Okay, let’s take a few steps back. It is completely natural to gravitate towards certain foods that aren't the "healthiest" (this isn’t the problem) The problem arises when you allow yourself to use this as an excuse to give up on your attempts to eat healthier.
Guess what? Life is all about balance and thinking outside the box. The truth is that you can have Ruffles and a flat stomach, I swear!
Here are my tips to practice safe snacking without self sabotage:
By eating that not so nutritious food item you aren't blowing your healthy eating streak, you are merely being human and enjoying your life! The key isn't to cut things like chips out completely but, to learn how to moderate the amount of them you consume. (YOLO)
Why not have a small bowl of chips on date night every other Friday if that's your thing? Do you really think that one indulgence will hinder your progress? It won’t!
If you are consistent in your healthy eating habits and exercise routine that one bowl of chips every other week will be unnoticed in your progress. It might actually even HELP you stay on track as you will be less likely to overindulge when it isn't taboo.
Think Outside The “Bag”
If the moderation trick just isn’t crunching it, why not come up with a chip alternative? We are so lucky to live in 2017, where there are endless swaps for nearly every not so nutritious snack item right at our fingertips. I love to snack just as much as you do and this is why I am excited to share my favorite "Chip Alikes" below:

These are seriously the BEST. The hickory BBQ is so close to the real thing and sure to suffice any BBQ chip lovers craving. I give these 5 stars in the crunch department at only 100 calories a serving.

Don't let the green kernels intimidate you, it is just kale baby! This popcorn is a seriously healthier alternative to Smart food. Only 43 calories per cup, totally worth making the swap.
#3 Crispy Minis Tortilla Style
Most people are familiar with classic Crispy Minis but, have you tried the new tortilla style? Seriously, these are a great swap for Doritos. Such a similar texture yet SO much healthier. Your welcome.
#4 Pop Corners Kettle
I remember the first time I had these... I ate the whole bag. (Oops) Make sure you still portion out a serving, just because it is healthier does not mean that the calories won't add up! When you are in the mood for something salty and sweet give these a try.
